Webinar on Emerging Trends of Statistics in the Era of Technological Advancement

Event Description

Department of Mathematics & Statistics, Manipal University Jaipur organized a webinar on “Emerging Trends of Statistics in the Era of Technological Advancement” on June 29, 2021 using Microsoft team platform on the occasion of National Statistics Day The inaugural function on June 29, 2021 was presided over by Dr. Lalita Ledwani, Director, School of Basic Sciences, MUJ. She highlighted the importance of statistics in current time. Dr. Kalpana Sharma, Head, Mathematics & Statistics, MUJ discussed about various applications of Statistics. Dr. Pooja Sharma welcomed the guests and participants and Dr. Ashish Kumar introduce the guest and resource person of the event. During inaugural session Prof. S.C. Malik, President IARS, Head, Department of Statistics, M.D. University, Rohtak explained contribution of Prof. P.C. Mahalanobis and utility of Statistics in various domains such as data science, actuarial science etc.. The role of Prof. P.C. Mahalanobis in development of statistics in India was also explained by Prof. S C. Malik in his talk during the event. More than 350 participants registered in the event from India and abroad and more than 62 participants attended this webinar in online mode.

The main objective of this webinar was to make aware the researchers about applications of statistics in era of data science. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Monika Saini.

Report on Online Quiz

On the same day, an online quiz on “Statistics and Probability” for XI & XII class students has been conducted. Over 70 students registered in quiz in which 21 students attempted the quiz and tested their knowledge. The online Quiz was held on June 29, 2021 morning at 10:00 am. Winners were selected on the basis of their score in the quiz.

  1. Sahil Sharma from SVM senior secondary School, Kahanur, Rohtak Haryana
  2. Lehasri C, E.B.G Matriculation School, Maduri, Tamil Nadhu
  3. Khusboo Sharama from SVM senior secondary School, Kahanur, Rohtak Haryana.
