In her talk, she referred to upskilling as the advanced skills to improve the current performance of an individual and reskilling as the process of learning new skills so that an individual can do different jobs. Upskilling and reskilling are required to fulfil the skill gaps such as inadequate understanding of the basic chemical processes, poor management of resources, insufficient knowledge of process safety, and environmental impacts etc. This results in transformation of an engineer into a better, efficient and excellent problem solver engineer.
