Event Description

Ran-Con is a series of conclaves with the most eminent speakers from across the globe. In this event, Mehul Smriti Raje, who did her MS(CS) from Harvard University and is now a SWE at Google and Vaiikunth Mugunthan, who has done MS and PhD from MIT were invited as speakers. They shared their experience on research, internships and placements while answering the doubts asked in the session.

The event Ran-Con was a Randomize members only event which started at 20:00 IST on 9th June 2021 and ended at around 21:30. The event was conducted to offer insightful knowledge on getting started with research and how to pursue it as a career. The distinguished speakers spoke in turns about their journey from an undergraduate student to masters in top universities abroad to a successful career path.

The event proceeded in a question-and-answer format. The initial questions being how to get into research as a beginner and how to collaborate with professors to the opportunities available later. They also explained how they bagged internships and job opportunities from top companies in the world.

Then they proceeded to answer questions particularly asked by the attendees about their personal experience at Ivy League universities, importance of different criteria in your application and about their current work and plans for future. All in all, a very interactive and informative session.
